Fort Worth’s original haunted house, Hangman’s is the perfect stop for anyone who’d like to be truly afraid. Opening Sept. 30 and running through Halloween night itself, this Fort-Worth-born attraction makes the most of its creepy location. Operating on a military base that’s over 100 years old, this spot was supposedly used for helium production, although some believe that something more sinister was taking place. Information on this spot’s history is classified, too, so you can let your imagination roam.

Today, this haunt includes multiple attractions to make you scream. The main attraction, the House of Horrors, offers guests a 45-minute walk-through experience complete with actors, props, and all the special effects you can imagine. The Beauty of Horror attraction presents a horror-based, interactive art exhibit, while OUTBREAK! sends killer zombies your way. On some dates, you can even enjoy a daytime Scaredy Cat tour for those who’d like to get in on the fun without the horror. Tickets for all attractions start at $39, with various fast pass entry options that give you more horrific bang for your buck.

Stockyard Ghost Tours

Every Thursday and Saturday night throughout the season, you can enjoy some terrifying local history with the Stockyard Ghost Tours. As the name suggests, these tours take place in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards, which is arguably one of the most haunted locations in the country. When you book this unique tour, you’ll get the chance to walk through the area (at night, of course) and hear blood-curdling stories about the yard’s history and paranormal encounters. Notable stops on the tour include The Cadillac Hotel, Miss Molly’s B & B, and The Stockyards Hotel.

Tours leave from the Cowtown Winery at 7 p.m. on Thursdays with an additional 8 p.m. slot on Saturdays. Reserve your spot today to avoid missing out on your town’s past brought to life in a whole new way. If you’d like to keep things a bit less ghostly but just as chilling, you can also embark on a Stockyard’s crime tour and learn more about the area’s history of cow folk crime. These tours take place on Fridays at 8 p.m.

Halloween Bar Crawl

Maybe you’re tired of being scared and might just like to enjoy a drink instead. If that’s the case, Fort Worth’s best Halloween Bar Crawl could be the event for you. This local crawl takes place on Oct. 29 and runs from 4 p.m. all the way through 10 p.m. with an after-party bumping until midnight.

Throughout that time, you and 500-plus other attendees will hit up more than five different venues, enjoy two drinks or shots, and earn the chance for glory with a $1,000 costume contest. Some other fun additions to this night include a spooky custom lanyard, food and drink specials, and a professional photographer to capture some of your best memories. Single tickets start at $15, but they’re only on sale until Oct. 1. Don’t wait to have the night of your life this spooky season.

Boo at the Zoo

A Fort Worth Halloween isn’t all scary stories and adult beverages. There are also some great options for the whole family. Boo at the Zoo, for example, takes place during the day right at the Fort Worth Zoo. On Oct. 28, 29, and 30, you and your loved ones can enjoy a chill event that includes treat stations, themed entertainment, animal shows, and more seasonal fun.

Put on your best costumes and enjoy this convenient trick-or-treating event right near home. The best part, though, might be that admittance to Boo at the Zoo comes free with any regular ticket, meaning that your family can also spend the whole day enjoying some of the zoo’s regular programming. Be your family’s Halloween hero with a trip to this Fort Worth gem.

Halloween Cookies and Decorating

Halloween is a magical time for everyone, including the culinary-inclined. This season, the Culinary School of Fort Worth is offering a Halloween Cookies and Decorating event on Oct. 22 for inspiring bakers. When you register for this event, you’ll get access to the school’s professional kitchen and tools, expert instruction, and all the materials you need to decorate six Halloween-themed sugar cookies and two caramel apples.

You’ll learn about icing techniques that the pros use, including a flooding method that allows you to create smooth cookies each time. No matter how skilled you are, you’ll be amazed at your progress and ability to create cookies that look too good to eat. A $60 pre-registration fee is required if you’d like to get a spot. Participants must be 16 or older and be accompanied by a parent if they’re under 18. Ice your cookies and eat them too at this unique Fort Worth event.

Spooktacular Drive-Thru Halloween Event

Rounding out our list of Halloween events, the Spooktacular Drive-Thru Halloween Event run by Medical City North Hills is a great way to end the spooky season. On Oct. 29 at noon, you can bring your family to the medical center to enjoy socially distanced trick-or-treating. A costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, and music complete this fun day.

This event was born during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, and organizers decided to bring it back by popular demand for a second year. With its unique drive-thru format, local families get a chance to enjoy Halloween fun without having to leave their vehicles. If you’re looking for a Halloween event without any of the hassles, put some gas in the car and get ready to enjoy this thoughtful activity.

So, there you have it. Hiley Subaru of Fort Worth just listed some of our favorite Halloween activities and attractions in the Fort Worth area. How’d you find our list? Is there anything we forgot?
