Fort Worth Water Gardens

Easily one of the most snappable shots in the city, the Fort Worth Water Gardens is a distinctive location you can’t find anywhere else. This fascinating feat of architecture features numerous tiered cascading waterfalls that collect in a singular pool 38 feet below. Table-topped stairs make their way down the structure so visitors can climb right into the water gardens and stroll amid the cascades without getting drenched.

The Water Gardens are worth a visit for this adventurous experience alone, and the photo opportunities are only a bonus. A Fort Worth fixture since 1974, the Water Gardens have found their way into numerous photos, so you’ll have to get creative to put together a one-of-a-kind shot, but the distinctive atmosphere offers a seemingly endless range of opportunities.

Brewed is a beloved Fort Worth destination that readily pours that love right back into the city with its outdoor mural. On the side of the building, you’ll find an eye-catching cowboy beside the tagline, “Love the Fort, Worth the Love.” With the catchy hashtag #LoveTheFort featured right on the mural, there’s no guesswork as to how you’ll caption this Insta photo. If you have time, pop inside while you’re there and enjoy the Texas craft coffee and brews paired with inspired all-day brunch bites, such as the Brewerd burger or biscuit bennys. The mural looks best on overcast days when you don’t have to deal with tricky shadows.

Airfield Falls

Just minutes from downtown Fort Worth, Airfield Falls is the only natural waterfall in Tarrant County. You’ll need to follow a 1.9-mile paved trail to get to the falls. The route typically takes about 36 minutes altogether to get out and back again.

A wide expanse of flat rocks creates the perfect setting for these picturesque falls. The water cascades roughly 15 feet down the two tiers. You can view them from the bridge crossing the water or climb down and take in the falls from a head-on perspective. Visitors often slip off their shoes and take a walk across the gentle waterfalls, making for an unparalleled photo opportunity.

Time your visit to coincide with the annual monarch migration and you may even catch some of these butterflies in your shot. The monarchs typically pass through Texas in the fall months with early October seeing the heaviest traffic for these bright butterflies.

For Fort Worth Mural

On the side of 7 City Church in West 7th district, you’ll find a vibrant mural by Mariell Guzman. This bold and colorful painting features stylized images that offer iconic representations of the city, such as distinctive shapes from the skyline, bright cacti, a powerful longhorn, and a quintessential cowboy hat and boot.

Historic Sinclair Gas Station

If you want to take an eye-catching Instagram picture that looks like an artifact out of time, head to the Historic Sinclair Gas Station. Though the gas station is no longer operational, the owner Paul Lemon has painstakingly restored it to its former glory, making it an iconic destination for photos and nostalgia. Intriguingly, Lemon wasn’t even aware of the station’s full history when he purchased it as the site for his lawn care business. He discovered the original paint job reading “Sinclair” while pressure washing years of paint jobs off the building.

Lemon relays fond boyhood memories of visiting Sinclair stations while taking road trips with his grandparents. He was thrilled to discover that he owned one of these properties and put great care into bringing it back to life. Today, you’ll find the company’s signature apatosaurus atop the building and amply featured on the signage. The original gas station was built in the 1950s and maintains much of this historic vibe. The Tunnel at Fort Works Art

It’s entirely appropriate that Fort Works Art has one of the most photo-worthy pieces in the city displayed on the side of the building. Fort Works Art describes itself as “somewhere between a gallery, a cultural center, and a museum.” If you’re interested in art of any kind, this is a must-see stop, and you won’t be disappointed by the Insta opportunity outside.

On the side of the building to the right of the doors is a stunning piece by Douglas Hoekzema known as The Tunnel. The concentric circles deepen in color from a fiery red outer shape to a deep blue and black interior, creating the illusion of a three-dimensional tunnel that you could crawl right into. Get creative with your pose as you snap a picture with this piece of art.
